ROCKERS CARD GAME: A PERSONAL PROJECT

My wife’s family grew up playing the “Authors” card games, a variation on Go Fish where you collect sets of authors and guess cards based on book titles. There are also versions for Scientists, Inventors, and Composers. When my son began playing electric guitar, it occurred to us there should be a “Rockers” version of the game. We decided to create our own set and give them as presents to our family for Christmas 2020. We first had to come up with a list of bands to include — as these would be gifts, the bands all had special meaning to our families, like Styx, Heart, and Soundgarden. After that we then had to choose only four songs for each of the four suits (and for The Beatles, this was basically an impossible task). After that came the truly fun part: design and production. Only five sets exist, one for us, and one for each of our sibling’s families.
